Shinola Hotel Earns Newly Established Michelin Key

The new Michelin Keys rank some of the country’s most outstanding hotels. Shinola Hotel has earned Detroit’s first. Plus, the hotel is recognized in the 2024 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.

In April, Michelin launched a new system of rating hotels around the world that are the best of their craft: the Michelin Keys. Only five months after their creation, Detroit’s first Michelin Key has been awarded to .

The brand-new Michelin Keys, much like their relative , award hotels that go above and beyond in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the neighborhood or setting.

Known as “Detroit’s living room,” Shinola Hotel, which is a joint venture between the lifestyle brand, , and real estate firm, , proved to be exceptional in all five categories with as “the result is a stylish, youth-oriented boutique hotel that plays up its historical heritage, its interiors recalling an idealized version of Detroit’s manufacturing heyday.”

Aside from the 129 guest rooms within its walls, the 16,000-square-foot hotel offers five food and beverage concepts from the award-winning chef, of , a variety of onsite shopping options in Parker’s Alley including The Lip Bar, and Good Neighbor, as well as event spaces such as Bixby Hall and Birdy Room.

In addition to earning a Michelin Key, Shinola Hotel was also recognized by the as the fourth best hotel in the Midwest.
