Just in time for the holiday season, customers can take home a piece of Detroit history with Rebel Nell’s new limited-edition Belle Isle Aquarium collection produced in collaboration with the Belle Isle Conservancy. On sale now, the jewelry incorporates century-old material from the interior of the aquarium.��

Each piece features a green stone with hints of gold leaf. There are 16 unique pieces between $50 and $100 in the collection, including earrings, necklaces, cufflinks, tie pins, wine stoppers, and rings. Additionally, each piece is completely original, handmade by Detroit women. The brand works to empower disadvantaged area women by providing them with jobs creating jewelry and classes on topics such as financial management and personal wellness.��

According to the brand, the Belle Isle Aquarium line is Rebel Nell’s way of preserving local history that “holds a spot in the hearts of Detroiters.” The iconic Detroit building, which was designed by famed architect Albert Kahn, opened on Aug. 18, 1904, and is considered the oldest aquarium in the country.��

A portion of the proceeds from the pieces will be donated to the Belle Isle Conservancy, the nonprofit organization that operates the aquarium and improves other historical landmarks on Belle Isle, and the women who work at Rebel Nell. “We are excited to partner with the Belle Isle Conservancy on this special collection that honors one of my favorite places in the city, the Belle Isle Aquarium,” Rebel Nell Founder Amy Peterson says. “The collection will create economic opportunity for many women in Detroit through our mission at Rebel Nell, as well as help fund the aquarium and other activities on Belle Isle.”��

Rebel Nell upcycles materials, such as graffiti paint chipping, found at local sites to create its one-of-a-kind jewelry. The brand carries collections using materials from the Joe Louis Arena, Comerica Park, Michigan Central Station, and the Palace of Auburn Hills.��
