, an initiative that supports downtown Detroit businesses, has announced its initial line-up of seasonal activities for winter 2024 鈥斕齛nd it includes the return of community favorite destinations.
It all kicks off on Nov. 7 with the return of the Downtown Detroit Markets and Cadillac Lodge.
The Downtown Detroit Markets bring a variety of local vendors together, making holiday shopping a breeze while supporting small businesses. Located at Cadillac Square, this holiday happening will provide a variety of family-friendly activities for locals and visitors.
Along with the markets, makes its return as a large, heated tent filled with board games, plush seating, and concessions to escape Michigan鈥檚 cold winter. Both holiday happenings will run from Nov. 7-Jan. 5.
Santa听will also be available for photos on a first-come, first-served basis at 1001 Winter Wonders, which is located at听, every Thursday through Sunday from Nov. 14-Dec. 24, along with sensory-friendly visits on Nov. 20 and Dec. 21, by registration.
Admission to 1001 Winter Wonders, Downtown Detroit Winter Markets, and Cadillac Lodge is free.
The will also be up and running once again, acting as free transportation to downtown Detroit鈥檚 most exciting locations for the holiday. The trolleys run Fridays from 4-8 p.m., Saturdays from noon-8 p.m., and Sundays from noon-6 p.m. from Nov. 8 through Jan. 5. Trolleys will run approximately every 15 minutes and can transport up to 30 riders at a time.
During its route, the trolley will make stops to various standout locations. The first stop is the , where you can see the historic building鈥檚 new look; the second stop is Capitol Park, which offers shopping, dining and holiday scenery; the third stop is , home to the Downtown Detroit Markets, Cadillac Lodge, and 1001 Winters Wonders; the fourth stop is Parker鈥檚 Alley, which offers Shinola Hotel, Greektown, and a vintage car display; and the fifth and final stop is Foxtown where landmarks such as , , , and stand tall.
Aside from the main holiday happenings, other Detroit companies are joining the fun with their own festive events. For fans of the arcades and roller skating offered at the Monroe Street Midway last year, is offering a brand-new arcade and roller rink, .
Starting Nov. 14, Next Level by RollerCade will host Skate Night Date Night, offering free skating every Thursday between 6-9 p.m., and for fans of silent discos, the rink will host Silent Night Skating & Cinema, letting skaters watch classic holiday films silent-disco-style every Friday and Saturday from 6-8:30 p.m. Next Level will also host Gaming with Grinchy every Sunday 1-2 p.m. starting Nov. 17.
Detroit, a children center immersed in the foundations of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, is also set to host their Stemville Holiday Programming every Saturday between 11 a.m.-2 p.m., starting Nov. 16. Stop by for children鈥檚 crafts and activities, such as creating a snow habitat, with surprise visits from recognizable 鈥渟nowy鈥 characters.
And finally, in partnership with , introduces the Remix Detroit Holiday Takeover. This free, interactive music lab allows visitors of all ages to create their own melodies, and unique light shows using turntables and rearranging illuminated spheres. From Nov. 21-23, Remix Detroit will play holiday inspired beats from 4-8 p.m. to welcome this festive time of the year.
