The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is turning 20! Celebrate with the free, three-day , which will feature a youth 3v3 basketball tournament, a sports showcase, and a one-mile fun run at Cullen Plaza, Milliken State Park, and Harbor in Downtown Detroit, Aug. 11-13, 2023.
鈥淕ood Moves, Good Grooves is the perfect way to bring fun to the riverfront,鈥 Rachel Frierson, the senior director of programs and public spaces for the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, said. 鈥淭he event will showcase the immense talent we have in Detroit ranging from music to sports. It is a family friendly event that will have something for everyone to enjoy.鈥
The festival will kick off on Friday, August 11 with Motown Museum鈥檚 鈥淩iverfront Revue鈥 鈥 a musical celebration and talent showcase 鈥 followed by a concert featuring The Commodores.
After the music, spend the rest of the weekend getting active. Saturday, August 12 hosts 鈥3v3in the D,鈥 a youth basketball tournament in partnership with the Detroit Parks Coalition and the Pistons Neighbors Program.
Rest up for the one-mile fun run the next day, Sunday, August 13. Stick around for a Detroit Sports Showcase, which is hosted by : Southeast Michigan partners and offers attendees the chance to test their skills at several sports like street hockey, horseback riding, lacrosse, and more.
The festival is a one-time event and is part of a list of events celebrating the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy鈥檚 20th anniversary. Other celebratory plans feature the opening of two new public spaces, a documentary premier, free boat cruises on the Diamond Jack, and a historical photo display along the Riverfront.
All festival events are free and open to the public.
