Michigan Science Center in Detroit is relaunching its Late Nite series. The programming kicks off on July 30 with Back to the 80s, a family-friendly event that combines pop culture and science.

鈥淭hese days, everyone wants a more flexible schedule. So, we decided to give busy families that opportunity at MiSci,鈥 says Dr. Christian Greer, president and CEO of the Michigan Science Center, in a press release. 鈥淥ur new Late-Nite events offer evenings of fun and engagement for families and adults alike.鈥

While the center normally closes at 4 p.m. on Fridays, MiSci will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Back to the 80s. Attendees will have access to all of the galleries 鈥 including the new POPnology exhibit 鈥 as well as a special lineup of activities and attractions such as a hands-on Ghostbusters slime experiment, demos on the science of lightsabers, an 鈥80s-themed music Laser show in the Imax Theatre, food trucks, and more. The Toyota 4D Engineering Theater will also be set up as a Nintendo Entertainment System gaming space, and guests can play one another on the big screen.

Tickets are $10 for MiSci members and $15 for the general public. MiSci is planning more late-night events this fall, including an adults-only 鈥淎fter Dark鈥 night with drinks on Oct. 22 and a Trunk or Treat for kids on Oct. 27.
